Re-created historical values through technology
The specific project that Millennium IT brought gave us at OdloVFX a chance to take pride in ourselves about our capability to merge history with modern technology to create compelling visual narratives, Our collaboration with Millennium IT was to produce a commercial that embraced the historical values and ancient technology in Sri Lanka linking that glorious prestige with the Millennium IT brand. This commercial production was a testament to OdloVFX’s commitment to nothing less than excellence.
The major challenge that we were presented with in this project was, accurately recreating historical elements that have never been seen by the people in this century. This included the Sigiriya water gardens, star-tracing stupas, Balangoda points, and Udarancha Madama. We were required to ensure these recreations were both accurate and visually appealing and for that, we had to conduct thorough and extensive research collaborating with historians and experts on this specific subject. Giving life to these magnificent historical elements came with a heavy responsibility for us to ensure the accuracy as much as possible.
The concept development began with detailed and deep research that involved several brainstorming sessions with the Client, agency, and a group of historians. The preparation for this project was a lot deeper than it was for any other project we worked on. Once we knew we had the essential details and information, we started laying out the foundation with meticulously developed storyboards which in the coming phases of the process served as a guide in the right direction. Our goal was to blend historical accuracy with modern animation to create an engaging narrative that highlighted MillenniumIT’s connection to Sri Lanka’s rich history.
The production phase undoubtedly involved a lot of extensive VFX work to accurately recreate the ancient sites and technologies of Sri Lanka. We were required to employ a number of advanced and modern software tools to craft realistic 3D animations and environments. Even Though it was very challenging to recreate unseen parts of Sri Lankan history, with the usage of cutting-edge technologies and techniques, we were able to successfully bring those elements to life. This was a complex process that included detailed modeling and animation work along with unparalleled attention to the tiniest detail. Through all of that, we could ensure the accuracy of the recreated historical sites.
Post-production is one of our strongest suites. Even so, we were extremely cautious about every step of the process as we know it was a critical part of the whole production. This phase involved hours of meticulous editing and careful refinement to ensure historical accuracy, visual appeal, and most importantly the glory that we have only heard in stories. Our team sharply focused on enhancing visual effects to the maximum point, fine-tuning the animations to give them that smooth seamlessness. The result was a polished and professional final product that effectively conveyed MillenniumIT’s brand message.
The final product was truly a success which was hugely rewarding for us, as this project was very special for OdloVFX and a bunch of creatives. The commercial was a resounding success that brought in many positive responses and praises from both the client and the viewers. The accurate and visually stunning recreations of historical sites and technologies effectively showcased Sri Lanka’s great history and linked it to MillenniumIT’s modern innovations.
